At the NANOCON conference Dr. Pumera will deliver the plenary lecture "Nanorobots in Biomedicine".

Education and Career Accomplishments:
Martin Pumera holds a dual position as the Director of the Center for the Advanced Functional Nanorobots and a tenured faculty member at University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague and as group leader of Future Energy and Innovation Lab at CEITEC, Brno University of Technology. He received his Ph.D. at Charles University, Czech Republic, in 2001. After two postdoctoral stays (in the United States, Spain), he became tenured group leader at the National Institute for Materials Science, Japan, in 2006. In 2010 Martin joined Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where he worked as a tenured associate professor for almost a decade. Prof. Pumera has broad interests in nanomaterials and microsystems, in the specific areas of electrochemistry and synthetic chemistry of 2D nanomaterials, nanotoxicity, micro and nanomachines, and 3D printing. Martin is “2017 & 2018 Highly Cited Researcher” by Clarivate Analytics. He published over 600 papers which received more than 29,000 citations. Martin's h-index is 82. Martin has supervised 22 Ph.D. students, 8 Master students and over 50 BSc students.

Martin is currently Visiting Distinguished Professor at Cambridge-CREATE Singapore.

Research interests:
The Centre of Advanced Functional Nanorobots managed by M. Pumera in Prague develops nanorobots that will be capable of self-organization and detect-and-act feature. This research will lead into creation of the nanodevices for the real world application, such as detection of biologically active compounds, biomedical applications, targeted drug delivery, environmental remediation and new highly efficient catalysts.
